The Best Essential Oils for Itchy Anus

Here are some of the best essential oils:

1. Tea Tree Essential Oil

When it comes to treating itchiness then tea tree oil is my #1 choice. This oil has natural antibacterial, antifungal, and antiseptic properties.

Most of the time the cause of itchiness is microbes and tea tree oil is very effective against them.

A study conducted in 2006 showed how effective tea tree oil is in treating not only itchiness but also acne and dandruff, which proves its antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties.

How to Use?

  • To use it, take 2-3 drops of it and apply in the perianal region. Do Not go deep!
  • If you think you have sensitive skin, then mix it with equal amounts of any carrier oil e.g. coconut oil.
  • You can apply it a maximum of twice a day.

2. Mustard Oil

This oil is one of the wonders of nature and has tons of benefits. Its amazing antimicrobial and antibacterial properties make it the best choice for itchiness.

The great thing about this oil is that you don’t have to mix it with any oil and people of any age group (from a child to an adult) can use it.

How to Use?

  • Take a small amount of it on a cotton swab and gently apply it around the perianal area.
  • Optional: If you want you can also apply it a bit deep into the anus. It is completely safe.
  • You can safely apply it 2-3 times a day (the best time to apply it is before going to sleep)

In most cases, you will get relief right after the first use.

3. Coconut Oil

I am sure you have heard about the benefits of this oil, especially for dry skin and scalp. Similarly, this oil will also benefit you in getting rid of the itchiness from your anal region because in most cases the cause of itching is dryness.

Coconut oil has some amazing moisturizing properties. Not only this but it is also known for its anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal properties, which makes it one of the best choices to treat anal itchiness.

In 2014, a randomized double-blind controlled study showed the moisturizing properties of coconut oil which makes it a perfect solution for dryness and itchiness.

How to Use?

  • Take a couple of drops and apply to the perianal region. It is completely safe if you want to go a bit deep into the anus.
  • You can apply it 2-3 times a day (remember the best time to apply is just before going to sleep)

The Bottom Line!

The above-mentioned essential oils for itchy anus are some of the best oils and you can definitely use them without any risk.

In most cases, perianal itchiness is due to eating too much sugar (especially in children) or due to dryness and the above-mentioned oils work great against both causes.
